Pale, Light Body, Low ABV
German Pils, Munich Helles, Kölsch, American Blonde Ale, International Pale Lager
Trumer Pils (German Pils), Reissdorf Kölsch, Kona Big Wave (American Blonde), 805 (American Blonde), Asahi Super Dry (Intl Pale), Bierra Moretti (Intl Pale), Wenstephaner Lager (Helles), Spaten Lager (Helles)
This was too many beers to do at once- 6 is the way to go. I got some good takeaways though! Here’s what I noticed/perceived:
German Pils: bitterness on palate, especially noticeable after swallowing and waiting
Munich Helles: green apple/acetaldehyde, fuller mouthfeel, long finish (see International Pale below for the opposing mouthfeel/finish)
International Pale Lager: after swallowing, the beer seemed to thizzle away like how cotton candy disappears after putting it into your mouth
American Blonde: noticeable darker color (like apple juice), and mine must have been old because it had the old hop/Damascenone flavor which in my mind would eliminate International Pale (which doesn’t have much hop character to begin with) AND Helles/Pils (I’ve never detected Damascenone in a German-produced beer, but they’re probably out there; so don’t bank on this)
Kölsch: bready yeast, noticeable bitterness (see my next blog for more on Kölsch)
